TON Launches UAE Golden Visa Program with Toncoin Staking
The Open Network (TON), a blockchain platform originally developed by Telegram, has introduced a new UAE residency pathway. The program grants a 10-year Golden Visa to applicants who stake $100,000 worth of Toncoin (TON) for three years, plus a $35,000 processing fee.
Significantly Lower Investment Threshold
Traditional UAE Golden Visas typically require a $540,000 investment in illiquid assets. TON’s program cuts this requirement by over 80%, making UAE residency more accessible. Bobby Ong, co-founder of CoinGecko, noted: “This 5x reduction compared to real estate investments will attract significant attention from crypto investors.”
Program Benefits
- Assets remain under user control via verifiable smart contracts
- 3-4% estimated annual yield on staked TON
- Visa coverage extends to immediate family members
Market Response
Following the announcement, Toncoin’s price increased by 10%. While currently trading around $2.98 (up 8% daily), it remains 60% below its yearly high per CoinMarketCap data.
UAE’s Blockchain Strategy
This initiative aligns with the UAE’s goal to become a blockchain hub, evidenced by recent regulatory updates and over 600 crypto companies now operating in Dubai.
