Metaplanet Expands Its Bitcoin Holdings to 13,350 BTC
Metaplanet, Japan’s leading corporate Bitcoin treasury, has strengthened its position in the cryptocurrency market by acquiring an additional 1,005 BTC. This strategic purchase brings their total holdings to 13,350 BTC, valued at approximately $1.4 billion at current prices. The Tokyo-listed company now surpasses both CleanSpark and Galaxy Digital in corporate Bitcoin holdings.
Strategic Expansion Through Bond Issuance
To fuel further growth, Metaplanet announced plans to issue $208 million in zero-interest bonds. This financial strategy enables the company to expand its Bitcoin acquisition while maintaining liquidity. Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet’s CEO, emphasized the company’s rapid progress, noting their holdings grew from 3,350 BTC to 13,350 BTC in just three months.
Global Standing Among Corporate Bitcoin Holders
Metaplanet now ranks as the fifth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin worldwide. The company’s growing corporate Bitcoin holdings reflect increasing institutional confidence in cryptocurrency as a reserve asset. Their position exceeds notable firms like Galaxy Digital Holdings (12,830 BTC) and CleanSpark (12,502 BTC).
